M. Andrew Davis
Reverend Doctor M. Andrew Davis serves as the pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Columbia, South Carolina. Having over ten years of experience in the ministry, he became shepherd of this flock in November, 2017. A second generation preacher, Reverend Davis answered his call into ministry and preached his initial sermon on July 16, 2006, under the leadership of Reverend Lennon Parson, Sr., of West Rocky Ford Missionary Baptist Church, in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Reverend Davis also served as Youth Pastor at Manasseh Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.
While at Manasseh, his ministry included profound and sustaining innovations that were and remain beneficial to the congregation. In July 2008, Reverend Davis became the fifteenth pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Ansonville, North Carolina. Reverend Davis was instrumental in influencing the Ansonville community fellowship for the greater good through his commitment to increased, sustainable ministry and by remaining an unwavering presence in the community in which he was raised, demonstrating God’s love for all people. Rev. Dr. M. Andrew Davis is the author of the book entitled “Church Without Limits” Connecting to the Millennial Generation.
Davis was in appointed to serve as SC E & M Convention historian in 2018. Davis was given an assignment to retrieve the rich history of the SC E&M Convention to provide a resource for Pastors in the state of SC. As Reverend Dr. M. Andrew Davis maneuvers on his journey with tenacity and fortitude to serve regardless of his own human flaws, he continues to “press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus,” (Philippians3:14) and he steadfastly remains a man after God’s heart.
Reverend Davis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in African American Studies, from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, North Carolina. In May 2012, was conferred the Master of Divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Embracing his belief in the value of theological education, in 2014, Reverend Davis was hired at Apex School of Theology, Durham, North Carolina, and was instrumental in developing its Recruiting Department. Moreover, at Apex, Davis also serves as Practical Theology Professor and Doctor of Ministry Mentor for cohort group entitled Developing Effective Series: Preaching and Christian Models for Leadership for the 21st Century. Reverend Davis completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University, Madison, New Jersey in 2016.
The extensive research for his dissertation is gleaned from his millennial generation’s perspective and its contributions to society by way of profound and positive connections. His dissertation, titled “The Millennial Generation: Building a Legacy in the African American Rural Faith Community Through Connectional Relationships”, will undoubtedly be utilized as a resource for rural church communities everywhere.
